For several years now, I have been dabbling in the online marketing arena, mainly in affiliate sales, and in software products. I’ve always had a day job at the same time, and that looked likely to continue unless I really made it big-time. About 18 months ago, I changed my day job and I really enjoy it. Being a lot closer to home than my previous job, I had more time to spend with my family and on other pastimes such as learning the guitar. With all that extra time, you’d think that I’d have more time to concentrate on my online marketing efforts, but that hasn’t been the case because of all my other interests.
Recently, however, I realised just how much I missed the thrill of the chase in the online marketing field and have decided to set aside some time to get back into [Read more…]
It’s been many months since my last post on this blog. It’s amazing how easy it is to get out of the habit of posting, and once you’ve lost that habit, a blog can easily fall into a state of neglect.
So this post represents me getting back on track.
Last summer I started a new day-job and it had a profound effect on my day-to-day routine, and that’s the problem. Once your routine is broken, some tasks get overlooked or forgotten.
The job is great though. Working on accounting software is a big departure from the sonar systems I worked on previously, but I’m learning some great new programming skills.
As you’ll see from previous posts, I am learning to play guitar. I’m still not that good yet, but I do practice as often as I can – at least every day – even if it’s just a five-minute [Read more…]
You can sort online marketers into a set of at least 4 distinct groups. The first group make hundreds of thousands of dollars or even millions per year. they are in the top 1 or 2 percent of all marketers. The second group, which represent the next 2 or 3 percent of marketers make a decent amount of money – enough to give up their day job and improve their lifestyle sufficiently to be very happy with what they do.
The next few percent make up the third group who a few hundred dollars here and there. It’s enough to keep them trying, but not enough to live on.
After that, there is group 4. They are the remaining 90% of people who try and try to make money online, but get nowhere and very often end up spending more money than they make. Then they give up.
If you are in either [Read more…]
Over the years I have used a number of those traffic sites where you sign up to receive email ads from other members, and earn points by reading them. Those points can then be spent on sending ads to the other members.
I always found the results to be a little disappointing and I put this down to the fact that the list to which my messages were being sent was not particularly well targeted. Furthermore, I found that I couldn’t cope with wading through the hundreds of emails that I was receiving every day, and I would usually unsubscribe from the service after about a week.
The advantage of these systems is that they are free (unless you upgrade to their premium services), so from time to time I sign up with a different one and try again. I am currently trying ViralAdStore as a free member [Read more…]
As an Internet Marketer, I usually subscribe to a number of lists of other marketers, just to keep my eye on what they are doing and what products they are promoting. I also find them to be a good source of ideas for my own products.
There has been a lot of junk being pushed, with incredible claims about their products. If you understand that there’s no magic formula that will bring you riches simply by clicking a few buttons, then you won’t believe these marketers.
Of the products that are plausible, how can you tell which ones are telling you the true story? Good sales copy writers are very good at persuading people to buy their product whatever it is and whatever technique it uses.
On Thursday last week I received an email promoting a product that looked interesting. I went to the sales page and saw statements [Read more…]
